I will be in Rome for 2 1/2 days at the end of the month. I was planning to see the Pope at noon on Sunday but from reading earlier posts, it sounds like I shouldn't do the Vatican Museum or St. Peter's that day since it is free Sunday, so was planning those two sites for Saturday or Monday. Here were the sights I was planning to take in - it will be my husband and I (33) and our baby (1) - any advice is welcome! Not sure how doable it will be with a 1 year old in tow, but we will try - Thanks! Saturday - arrive at 2 by train Colosseum Forum Capitoline Hill Pantheon Sunday AM - any sights from Friday that may have missed 12 noon - Pope PM - Borghese Gallery Monday Vatican Museum
St Peter's
Thanks Elle for all the helpful tips and links! Will definitely check out the Borghese Gardens - enjoyed the Pines of Rome video as well! The Night Walk looks great as well, will be a nice walk to put the baby to sleep one night! :) Thank you!!
PS - Does anyone know if you need to buy a ticket for babies for the Borghese Gallery? The website only says that EU citizen children are free - so I'm guessing that means US children are not. Thanks!
Babies are usually admitted free everywhere... except maybe the Zoo. Italians love babies! It is a joy to see how much pleasure they take in children!
Good to know, thanks Laurel! :)
I would ask about the baby on the Trip Advisor Rome forum, just to be sure.
" Saturday - arrive at 2 by train Colosseum Forum Capitoline Hill
Pantheon " This seems like a lot for about 5 hours, especially with an infant.
Colosseum, Forum & Capitoline Hill took us about 4 & 1/2 hours. We started at 12:30, ate a sandwich on a brick wall. Arriving at 2pm on the train, dropping off luggage, sorting out the subway system. You may want to check closing times. You may want to get there earlier than noon for the Pope. I saw people lining up at 10am.
