Poor Tourist Behaviour in Florence

This is why part of me wishes there was a ban on selfies and similar. All too often one has to wait forever to get a clear shot of a popular site or artwork due to endless posing for photos.

I don’t even have words for what this person did in Florence. No wonder people are upset.

Maybe a little bit too much worshipping Bacchus…? Hopefully she is now repenting at leisure.

I saw that story this morning and I was disgusted at the behaviour of some tourists. The other picture in the story I saw was more disgusting than the one shown in this story. No doubt she posted it on her social media accounts with the expectation of getting accolades. I agree with the suggestion in the article that much more severe penalties, including jail time, might curb this type of behaviour.

UGH... We just got back from Italy and when we were in Siena waiting for our scheduled tour in the chapel, a rude tourist moved one of our fellow tour attendees aside brusquely who was covering a small edge of the artwork, so he could proceed to take FLASH photos (prohibited) for five solid minutes!

Is it just my perception, or do authorities in tourist destinations like Florence avoid using very heavy fines against tourons for some reason? If they want to avoid discouraging tourists then it has the opposite effect. And maybe that would be a better source of revenue than entry fees.

You first have to apprehend the person in order punish them. And the first instance of something like this will usually be the pictures or video posted online, after which it takes a lot of work to find them. I can't believe if this was done in front of people that this bimbo would not have been apprehended before she left the museum.

Did no one rebuke her at the time?
Or are people just afraid to engage these days…
A tour guide told …told, not asked….me to move out of the way on the Ponte Vecchio a couple of years ago if I was not on honeymoon, in order to take photos of her clients who were.
I took my time.
Another told me I couldn’t look at David in the Accademia near his group as I might hear what he was telling them.
I moved in closer.
People have lost their minds.

(Lesley, we were in Sidney last week for the day, I love visiting there!)
