Has anyone travelled to Ponza? Thinking about train Rome to Formia, Ferry to Ponza, mid-September 2017. I know we can't predict the weather, but does anyone know if its really hard to catch the right kind of weather that permits travel to Ponza? How could we find out the likelihood of ferry cancellation ahead of time, even a day or two ahead might allow us to cancel rooms on Ponza without cx fee. Any thoughts appreciated! Happy New Year!

In summer you will be ok. Ferry cancellations are rare in winter, in summer they are extremely rare.They have bigger ferries going there.
You can catch a boat from Formica or Terracina. In summer also from Anzio and Circeo.

Thank you! Our dates for Ponza are September 13-16. Kind of on the fringe of Summer. Thank you, too, for the helpful website!

Never been to Ponza but mid-Sept in that region is basically Summer.
I think a freak storm at sea is the only way you would be in trouble.
