Ponta della Constitzione

Sept will be my 1st overseas trip & Venice is on our list so I've been scouring the WWW & Pinterest. I've seen this bridge, Ponta della Constitzione, that is made out of glass. I'm on these forums religiously & have never seen this bridge mentioned. Does anyone know what district this is in?

Thank you!!!

It's between the train station and Piazzale Roma. Go out of the station, take a right, and you will see it. Be careful when you walk across it, because the steps have non standard rise and are easy to trip on because you will have difficulty compensating for the weird height visually. It's a bit incongruous in Venice, but so is Peggy Guggenheim's home.

Hi Libby
Ponte della Costituzione is its official name, but is aka Ponte Calatrava after its architect. Be sure to look at its under side which is designed to resemble a fish skeleton.

The Calatrava Bridge is notorious for people slipping and falling, especially if it is wet.
The design of the steps and the glass construction, complies with no known design manual or safety code.
A few years ago, I helped a friend move Ikea Billy bookcases across that cursed bridge, using a trolley with a flat tyre. I can still feel the pain of that job.

Calatrava’s projects are notorious for being both visually striking and spectacular boondoggles. Most go wildly over-budget, require constant unanticipated repairs and often generate massive recriminations and lawsuits. The project in Venice barely even functions as a bridge. In rain or snow ithe surface is a positive hazard. Handicap access was an afterthought dealt with by the addition of a retrofitted passenger pod which was hugely expensive and rarely functions. But if your only requirement is that thing looks pretty...mission accomplished.
