Will be there on a Saturday afternoon in Oct, do you recommend a skip the line package? Is the entrance fee still 12 Eu? Thanks!
According to this site, the entrance fee is 13 Eu except for seniors ("concession"). http://www.pompeiisites.org/Sezione.jsp?idSezione=6786
If you only have a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon, you may want to pay for a guide combined with skipping the line. The excavations are huge -- Pompeii was a city. A qualified guide would know how to make the best use of your available time and avoid backtracking, stopping to see things that aren't really all that interesting vs. heading to the top points of interest.
RS has a very good audio guide for Pompeii.( Free)
I do not recall there being a "skip the line" lane. When we arrived via train from Sorrento there were just a few people in line.
If you have found some "package" deal with a skip the line feature, you could be buying gold-plated muffler bearings.
