I am going to Pompeii later this month on a Wednesday and have already purchased my ticket. I want to go on a tour of some kind but the ones I found in English start before I may be able to get there so I didn't sign up. Are there one or two hour tours available throughout the day from guides on site? I'm looking for a group tour as a private tour is likely out of my budget.
Anyone tried using podcasts/audio tours that I could download ahead of time as I've read about internet issues on site?
Would the Mondo Guide 2-hour shared tour work for you? You should be able to get there by 11:00 AM.
To add, this tour is very economically priced, and has generally seen positive reviews from RS posters who've taken them. You would be free for additional exploration of the site (It's VAST) when the tour is finished.
I signed up for this but am the only one so far. It's not until June 29th so maybe more people will join and it will happen.

I agree with using the app. However, make sure you go in through the right entrance for it. There were no maps available at the entrance our car took us to and that wasn't optimum. Last week, Pompeii was hot, dusty and somewhat crowded. That's late May and I'm sure it's way worse later in the summer. Wear a hat and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. We started around 10 and made it two hours. At that point, my normally resilient sister sat down and announced, "I'm done!" Thank God, our driver came back a little early.
