What is the drive like? We are dropping the car in Salerno. Would it be better to drive to Sorrento? We are staying in Minori.

Because Minori is on the Salerno side of Amalfi it would mean a change of buses at Amalfi if you started from Sorrento, plus they are very crowded. On the other hand, just one bus ride from Salerno to Minori needed and much less crammed with tourists.

No problem driving from Pompeii to Salerno, it is a fast, fairly narrow dual carriageway (divided highway). Once you are in the mindset of a Neapolitan driver, which is basically as fast as possible (no matter car or dump truck), no lane control, ride your bumper, he with the biggest whatsit goes first, it is no problem.
I love it - my wife wants to hide under the seat.
