I have purchased the Artecard. We hired a guide for Pompeii. He wants us to go ahead and purchase Pompeii tickets now for a timed entry. I cannot figure out how to do this. If we have an Artecard , do we still need to purchase a timed entry?

You shouldn't need another ticket. We bought the Compania Arte card. When we arrived at Pompeii, we showed the card at the ticket office and they exchanged it for a regular Pompeii ticket, which we then gave to our tour guide. I'm not sure when you're traveling, but unless you're going at peak time, you should be OK. Especially if you're early enough in the day, and it's not a free day!

Entrance procedures for Pompeii seem to have changed somewhat since my visit with the annual (Gold) ArteCard a few years ago. There's now some Pompeii-specific information on the ArteCard website. Honestly, I don't know what it means, but here it is:

We were there this last December, 2025. I'd ask the tour guide why they think you need to buy another ticket when you already have the Artecard? Askos Tours knew what I was talking about, just asked me to go to the ticket counter to exchange ticket. Good luck!
