I'm trying to buy tickets to Pompeii for the end of December, but they are only available through December 15. I can get tour tickets, but I just want to buy direct from the official ticket office. Any ideas? I suspect I'm missing something obvious.

Perhaps your question is answered by the Search above. I'm not aware that tickets ever sell out.
RS recommends shared tours through Mondo, who we used, and they did a good two-hour walking tour. Admission was in addition to the tour price.

You're not missing anything; they're just not selling them very far in advance. Just keep checking the site and your dates will eventually come up; I've never heard of them selling out.
