We'll be moving between Rome and Sorrento by train on our trip around Italy in September. We've read Rick's book re train to Naples and Circumvesuviana from there to Sorrento, etc.
It appears from his book that it might be feasible, logistically, to get off the Circumvesuviana in Pompeii at Pompeii Scavi, station, stash our rollaboards at the train station, and walk around Pompeii for a few hours. Then reclaim our bags, hop back on the Circumvesuviana, and finish our trip to Sorrento by late afternoon.
Am I right? Or is this less practical that it seems from reading the book?
I'm fairly certain a few hours would do it for us in Pompeii, and if baggage storage really is practical when and where we get off and back on the Circumvesuviana, I'd consider it. But I'd also like to hear from those of you with experience or more wisdom first!
Thx.
