Are there other entrances to the ruins. We're staying in Pompeii near the cathedral and wondering if there are other entrances. Is there one at Piazza Anfiteatro? If so, is there luggage storage there as well. Has anyone been there recently?

Fredrica, AFAIK, there's only one entrance to the site. According to the Guidebook there's a free baggage check near the turnstiles at the entrance to the site, but bags MUST BE retrieved by 19:20.

Is the baggage storage manned or supervised? Is there a charge? Has anyone used it?

Actually, there are at least 2 entrances. I've used a second entrance along the street that leads to town. I think it's mostly used by big tour groups, but is available to everyone. I didn't see luggage storage at the second entrance. The luggage storage at the Porta Marina entrance is manned at all times while open. It was free last time I used it, and I felt comfortable leaving my luggage there.

According to the site map from the new official site there are left luggage facilities (suitcase symbol) at the Amphitheatre entrance. Not having used this entrance I don't know how accurate the info is....... http://www.pompeiviva.it/pv/en/pompei.htm
