Pompeii Restricting Access?

I have been told that tourists may soon have access restricted while visiting Pompeii. You will still be able to visit Pompeii obviously but will not be able to walk the streets as it is now. Has anyone heard anything about this and if so, when will this go into effect?

Was at Pompeii yesterday and saw no notices regarding restricted access. That doesn't mean they won't be doing some restoration during the off season, but nothing was posted.
