Pompeii Plus Villa dei Misteri

Hi everyone. I'm going to Pompeii in November and got the Pompeii Plus pass because I really want to walk to the Villa dei Misteri. The frescos are supposed to still be particularly vivid there.

We're entering in the main entrance so we'll visit the Villa towards the end of the day. I'll have family that can't do the extra walking so I'll have them wait in the forum.

I know this is a silly question but website searches have confused me! Am I able to re-enter the main archeological site after visiting the Villa? I read something on the official site that the only exit is outside the walls so I'll be stuck outside the archeological site while I still have family inside, and there's no re-entry.

I just want to be sure I'm not caught by surprise if that is the case and perhaps plan things differently. Anyone have experience coming back into the park afterwards?

Do you mean the Marina Entrance? Yes - you can go back to the rest of Pompeii after checking out the Villa dei Misteri. There is an exit there - you just need to turn around and go back instead of walking through the exit. We were there in April 2022.

kalypso410, when you're ready to leave you just go back the way you came. There is (or was, anyway) an exit near the site that doesn't allow re-entry but as long as you retrace your steps, you'll be fine.

Villa dei Misteri is all the way over on the upper left of the map. Don't leave the viila area per the exit marked with the red circle there, and just go back on Villa Della Tombe. You do have to pass through Porta Ercolano (INSIDE the site) to get to the villa, and here are the current hours for that part of the scavi:

Those hours could change, especially as it gets darker earlier, so check back to the website before you head off to Pompeii.
