We are flying from Venice to Naples Airport and arrive at 10:00 am. If we hired a private company is it possible to be picked up from the airport and do Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius and then to our hotel in Sorrento or should we wait for another day. We will be staying in Sorrento for 5 nights.

Under the idea that nearly anything is possible if willing to pay the price. I am sure you can arrange a driver that would take to Pompeii, wait several hours for your to tour, take you to Mt. Vesuvius and wait while you hike up and back and then on to Sorrento. It would make for a very full day and probably stretch into early evening. Personally, I would hit the hotel and catch the train back to Pompeii that day and do Mt Vesuvius on another day or reverse. Pompeii is vast and hard to see in less than four hours or so. Mt. Vesuvius isn't much to see. Hike to the edge and look down -- Yep !! that is a volcano.
