We plant to visit Pompeii on our way from Rome to Sorrento -
Once we transfer from Napoli to local train to Sorrento should we buy ticket all the way to Sorrento or buy only to Pompeii?
Which station at Pompeii has luggage storage (21") avaliable and is the stop near the entrance to Pompeii site?

Go ahead and buy your ticket to Sorrento. The Pompeii stop on that line is at the entrance to the excavations. The bag storage is at the entrance.
if you take the train to Pompeii, get off, explore, get back on -- you'll need 2 tix. Fortunately the Circumvesuviana train is pretty cheap .
You might also think about the Arte Card good for 3 days on the Circumvesuviana train and 2 museums (see http://www.campaniartecard.it/EN/Home.cfm )
