I thought I'd share this information since our experience was outstanding. We stayed in Praiano (amalfi coast) and wanted to do a day trip to Pompeii. We wanted to have someone who arranged for everything: driver to and from Pompeii, skip the line tickets, detailed tour as well as arrange lunch prior to heading back to Praiano. Based on this forums recommendation I contacted Gaetano Manfredi (3-4 months prior to visit). He responded quickly to my emails , arranged transportation (shoutout to Anthony who was a wealth of information on the drive to and from Pompeii), gave an outstanding tour and got us immediately to sitting at a table right after the tour ended for a fabulous lunch. Gaetano is a 3rd generation guide that made the tour so interesting we didn't want it to end. FYI, we met his son leaving the site who is also a guide. After 14 days traveling Italy, numerous tours and visits, this guy stood out as the best.
