Hello,
We would be so grateful for advice as to which is the most sensible. Thank you in advance!
Will be travelling from Pompei town to Forio in Ischia in mid-September. We each have a large wheeled suitcase, my husband also has a wheeled carry-on, I have a fabric shoulder bag and very small cloth purse ( also wearing money belts for PP and cards) .
I am concerned about safety and our maneuverability since we are carrying so much.
We think we have 3 options:
1) Pompei station 6:12am-6:35 train to Salerno. Cab to Alicost Ferry Terminal to catch 7:50 am - 10:50 am ferry to Ischia.
2) Circumvesuviana train from Pompei Scavi station to Sorrento: 6:48am-7:30 or 7:24-8:05. Alilauro ferry Sorrento to Ischia 9:10am-10:20.
3) Pompei Station to Napoli Central station. Not clear whic ferry dock has the open air boat to Forio. Willing to go to Ischia Port and take a cab to hotel.
Thank you for any feedback.

Welcome to the forum!
I’d pick the Pompeii to Salerno option
Simpler/cheaper
Salerno is a small station, there will probably be a few steps up or down from tracks to exit but manageable
I’d guess taxis in Salerno pretty reasonable
The Sorrento choice involves iffy transportation (Circumvesuviana)
You’d also have to get from Pompeii town to Scavi station-additional step/expense
Taxis in Sorrento are notoriously overpriced
Napoli Centrale is a huge busy station/harder to navigate with luggage, easier pickpocket targets I would guess
I’d also advise you to try to leave the large wheeled bag at home and travel lighter
