Four of us are considering an overnight in Pompei on our way from Naples to Sorrento. (We're leaning towards skipping Naples all together.) This would give us a chance to visit the ruins while waiting for our booking in Sorrento the next day. I haven't found any listing of accompodations in Pompei. Have any of you stayed in Pompei and if so can you suggest a hotel or B&B? Is there anything going on in Pompei other than the site itself? I'd appreciated any suggestions you may have. Thanks

Since Sorrento is only about a 15 minute train ride from Pompeii spending the night in Pompeii would be rather useless. Sorrento is on the dramatic Amalfi Coastline why not just spend another night in Sorrento?

Hotels in Pompeii are limited. We have stayed in both the Villa Dei Misteri and the Vittoria.These hotels are both right next to the ruins and are OK, but nothing exceptional.
