Pompei: Bus from Naples to Sorrento (Entrance Gate and Luggage)

We are traveling from Naples to Sorrento in May with luggage and want to stop in Pompei. We would like to take the bus (Curreriviaggi) from the Naples Airport which stops in Pompei at Pompei Valle Station which i think is at the Nolan Gate a short distance from the Sarno Gate. Does anyone know if these are valid entrance points to Pompei ruins? We will have luggage. Can we check them securely at these entrances? We are using the bus to avoid the trip into Naples and the circumvesuviana train with our luggage. I know we can check luggage at the Pompei Scavi Station but it is at the oppposite end the ruins near the Marina Gate and I think would be too far to walk with luggage. Thanks.

Ken, speaking strictly for entrance points, those are only at Porta Marina (that's the main one across from the Circumvesuviana train station), Piazza Esedra (Porta Marina Inferiore) and Piazza Anfiteatro.

According to the Curreriviaggi website, the bus stop is near the Porta Marina Inferiore entrance:

The map shows that there's baggage check at that one:

But this is very important: the bus apparently does not automatically stop at Pompeii. You have to make a reservation - both ways - if you want to get off/be picked up there:

It's interesting that the schedule lists the stop as Villa dei Misteri as that's the technically the train station stop near the main Porta Marina entrance, although there's a street of that name in that general area as well. Regardless, if it stops there you'd be right at an entrance with bag-checking services. Unless someone can clarify exact location, just ask the driver when you get on the bus. I'm sure they'll be letting you off near either the Porta Marina or Porta Marina Inferiore entrance.

As far as going on to Sorrento, you'd have more frequent train service from that entrance than you would with the bus, and personally that's what I'd do.

Have you considered hiring a private driver? You could just ask him/her to stop at Pompeii for a few hours, then take you on to Sorrento. We are considering the reverse trip, i.e., from Sorrento to Pompeii, then on to Napoli Centrale to catch a train. The luggage would stay locked in the car. From what I've read, a taxi (private driver) from Naples to Sorrento costs about 100 Euros; of course, with what I propose, the cost would be greater because the driver would be waiting for you. But it is logistically better and solves the luggage issue, and would be a much less stressful way to get where you want to go.

Ken, by "that" I meant the Porta Marina entrance near the train station. Apologies for not being very clear.
