Pompee/Sorrento (or) Amalfi Coast (or) Capri???

We are on a cruise and have only one day in Naples. Unfortunately there are three tours that day that I would love to take. One goes to Pompeii and Sorrento, the other goes to the Amalfi Coast and the last goes to Capri. If you could do one tour, which would you take?

These will be difficult tours to do with only 1 day. We just returned from Italy and did all of the above. It depends on what you are interested in doing. If you are coming from Naples I think you will have the easiest time seeing both Sorrento and Pompeii. We also saw Herculaneum and I apprciated it more than Pompeii. Pompeii was great but you need a couple of hours. Then we took the train to Sorrento which took 45 minutes. This town is very touristy and will be very busy this time of year.It is a very pretty town.
We took a bus down the Amalfi coast to the town of Amalfi and then took a boat back to Sorrento. The bus took about 2 hours. You probably won't have to much time to see the towns. Island of Capri is gorgeous. It has loads of trails and is very scenic. Depending on the ferry schedules, you may or may not have alot of time on Capri.

On a 3 week trip to France and Italy last summer our family spent 4 nights in Sorrento (here when Italy won the World Cup and what fun that was!)and did all of the sights you mentioned as daytrips from here. I guess if I had to only pick one it would be a trip to Capri and the Blue Grotto. Pompeii is very interesting if you enjoy Roman ruins. Have you been to Rome and seen the Forum, etc.? We spent half a day at Pompeii and still didn't see it all but did see the most popular things. When is your cruise? We were here in mid-July and it is very hot and no shade at Pompeii. At our hotel the desk clerk suggested taking the SITA bus from Sorrento only as far as Positano, which we did. We then spent the day in Positano and took a boat back to Sorrento which was beautiful. Another day we took the hydrofoil from Sorrento to Capri which is lovely. We did the Blue Grotto trip which starts with a beautiful boat ride from the marina in Capri to the entrance of the blue grotto. good luck!

Having been to all the places on each tour you mention multiple times - for just one day I would suggest the Sorrento/Pompeii tour. Pompeii is amazing and Sorrento is a very nice small town (good shopping) and some very beautiful cliff views just a few minutes walk from the center. The local residents are really nice and the gelato is fabulous. Capri is very touristy (and expensive) and would take some more time to get to the untouristy areas and you probably won't have enough time to really enjoy it. Same goes for the Amalfi Coast - a one day drive won't get you very far down the coast and you won't really get to see much.

Our first time to Naples on a cruise, we took an all day tour of the Amalfi Coast from Sorrento to Amalfi and we were blown away by the gorgeous coastline and scenic drive-it became a highlight of the cruise! The next time, we did the Capri trip and loved Capri! If the tour includes the Blue Grotto and going to Anacapri and riding the chair lift up to Mt. Solero (where you get to view the Faragolini Rocks), that would be just as awesome as the Amalfi Coast. Our tour did not include the Blue Grotto, so we did Capri on our own.
