train trip from Lyon, Fr to Naples, IT requires a PNR for each passenger. What is this and how do we get?
I have info on EU PLF ( Passenger Locator Form.
Is a railway website requiring a PNR before purchase? Which one, Trenitalia or SNCF?
You can get a through ticket from Lyon to Naples on trenitalia.com, but the ride takes 10 hours and 30 and you have to change in Milan's Centrale station.
Otherwise you can take a SNCF TGV train from Lyon to Turin and a Trenitalia Freccia from Turin to Naples.
PNR- passenger name locator is created when you make your reservation. So without knowing much more about your trip, I believe you will receive your PNR when you make the train reservation.
I booked several train tickets online before arriving in Italy, with each trip booked for a group of 3 people. After purcchase, my receipt noted that since they are etickets, I have a PNR code to show conductor when requested. There is one PNR for each trip, good for the group of 3 passengers ticketed. If you bought actual tickets at station or somewhere, you have a physical ticket for each person to validate at station and show to conductor.
Oops! PNR= Passenger name Record, not locator. Sharon J gave great info for you.
Let me add that process was proven today, as we took first of the eticketed trips, a train from Milan to Florence..
