Plug ins

I am bringing my IPad and IPhone to Italy. Do I need both an adapter and a converter? Where are they readily purchased? Thank you.

We use just a plug adaptor for both iPad and iPhone. You can buy them at any travel store or on this website.

You really only need the plug as your apple cords already have an adapter. But you can buy a kit at the apple store that includes all the plugs and the adapter too.

I do have an adaptor plug for Italy, but it states I need a Voltage Valet electricity converter. My IPad comes with a 10W USB Power adapter which states: Input 100-204V, I guess that covers voltage in Italy. Thank you, ladies.

Sammee, As the others have said, you will most likely only need inexpensive Plug Adapters for both your iPad and iPhone. The style used on the Continent has two round pins. If you'll be in the U.K., a different Adapter will be needed. I would highly recommend packing at least two of each Plug Adapter that you'll need, as they're easy to misplace. If you're going to be in Seattle prior to your trip, you can easily buy Plug Adapters at: > RS Travel Store (Edmonds) > The Savvy Traveller (Edmonds) > Bergman Luggage (Northgate Mall) > Radio Shack (although I'm not sure? We don't have Radio Shack here any longer, so I haven't checked their product listings in awhile). > Magellans - order by phone or internet. They have a great selektion. A more important concern to address is travelling with your iPhone. Which cell network are you with and which model phone are you using? Are you planning to roam with your home network? Be VERY CAREFUL with data roaming, as the costs can be HUGE!!! Happy travels!

I don't have any experience with Apple products, my stuff all runs the system from that guy with the big house on the Sound. As such, the power supplies are all clearly marked 100 - 240 VAC, 50 - 60 HZ. You state Apple is 204 V, and Italy is pretty much 220 V, so you might want to cofirm with Apple that 220 V is OK. WallyWorld also has plug adaptors. If you bring a hair dryer, you will need a voltage adaptor unless it has a dual voltage function. The fact that Italy also uses 50 HZ power frequency, the fan will run slower.

Oops, you are right Sam my plug in states 100-240V, 50-60Hz I should be okay. Thanks.

You will absolutely be ok. All you need is a couple plug adapters. The chargers plug into the adapter, and they plug into the wall. I've taken iPhones and iPods and Apple computers to Europe and have had no problem.

Sammee, As you confirmed that your Apple products are rated for an input voltage of 100-240 VAC, you'll only need inexpensive Plug Adapters such as these European Adapters from Magellans. Of course, the Apple international travel kit will also work (if you don't mind spending the extra money for those). BTW, I've been using the Magellans models for many years, and they work great. Cheers!

Ken and the rest of the guys here are right, all you need are the plug adapters. I bought mine at Ace Hardware for my camera, IPhone and Ipad. Have a great trip!
