We will be going to Switzerland and Italy. Will the same plug adapter for Switzerland work in Italy? If not, what do we need for Italy. Thanks.
Yes. They use the same plugs (rounded two-prong) as most of Europe.
Yes, the same one for most of Europe, exception being the UK which has a different one.
Depends if it's a 2-pin or a 3-pin plug.
2-pin plugs (so-called Europlugs) are the same in Switzerland, Italy and everywhere else in mainland Europe (but not the UK or Ireland).
3-pin plugs are more complicated. Switzerland is different from Italy, and both are different from the "Schuko" plugs used elsewhere in mainland Europe.
Thanks for this question - I had the same one this morning but hadn't had time to research.
Yes. They use the same plugs (rounded two-prong) as most of Europe.
The "rounded two-prong", type C plug is limited by codes in Europe to 1) less than 2½ amps (575W), to 2) non-grounding US plugs (no third rounded prong), and to 3) non-polarizing US plugs (both blades equal width). It's fine for low wattage devices like computer and phone chargers, but unless your appliance draws less than 2½ Amps and has 2 equal width, flat blades only, you should not use the "rounded two-prong", type C plug. You will not be "to code".
Thank you for the info.
