Arriving from USA to FCO Terminal 3 at 12:05 Departing Terminal 1 at 13:25 TO go TO Lamezia
Please help me: Do I have enough time & will my luggage most likely make it?
Also how do I get from one Terminal to the next? I just heard there are no signs or people to help you- is that true?
LEAVING DAY AFTER TOMORROW!!! In a panic.
Thank you
Mary
Mary,
Which airline are you using and were your two flights purchased on one ticket? 1H:20M is not much time to make a connection, especially if the queues are slow through Passport control and you have to go through security again. You may find this website helpful - http://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en-/pax-fco-flight-connections .
Getting between T1 / T2 / T3 is relatively easy although some walking is required, which takes time. Have a look at this diagram - https://goo.gl/images/Df1o15 .
Good luck!
Ken, Thank you. I am taking Alitalia & yes it’s all on one ticket. Will I be ok?
You might make it, you might not. On one ticket is a good thing, but you'll still have to go through immigration (sometimes fast, sometimes not, no way to tell) and neither you nor I nor the airline you're flying on knows if your first flight will be on time. I don't mean this to sound, well, mean, but at this late time what else can you do besides just go and see what happens.
You might have a look at this thread on Flyertalk that talks about tight connections at FCO. If it were me, I'd also have a list of later flights that get me where I'm going (or close) as well as be prepared to spend the night at the FCO Hilton if necessary.
And, to any future readers of this thread, the time to consider these issues is before you pull the trigger on purchasing your plane ticket.
Alitalia has two more flights to SUF later in the day.
At 17:20 and at 21:50, currently (times may vary slightly depending on the exact date of travel).
If somehow you miss the one you are booked, they will put you in the next. Happens all the time when the first flight is late.
Mary,
I was a bit late getting back to this thread, but hopefully you now have the answers you need. The important point is that you bought the flights on one ticket, and as Roberto said the airline will get you on their next flight if you miss the one you've booked. I'm assuming that your checked luggage (if any) will be checked through to your final destination, so you won't have to retrieve it in Rome and then re-check. That will save some time. However you might ask the airline staff when you check-in at the airport to see if that's the case.
One other suggestion would be to tell the flight crew on your first flight that you have a very short connecting time for your next flight. Try to be one of the first to deplane and that way you can be at the front of the queue at Passport control. I've made a flight connection in as short as one hour, but your situation could be different due to circumstances at the time.
Just did this st FCO. Easy, you just walk there. Only two people were ahead of us at Passport Control. All on Alitalia. Beautiful airport.
Thank you for all the help. I’m praying the security line is short & I will try to be one of the first off that plane. Yes, my baggage is going through to my final destination. I appreciate all of you giving your time & suggestions. God Bless.
Mary
I’m praying the security line is short
As others say, I would be more worried about immigration and your incoming flight being late than worried about security.
P.S. putting your e-mail address in a post is not a good idea, unless you want lots of spam. This website has a system where people can send a "private message" to you without knowing your e-mail address.
Thank you Chris. Do I go through immigration and security?
Mary
When we have hit long lines for immigration at FCO, there have been airport personal moving people with short connections to the front of the line. If you find a long line at immigration with a 30 to 45 min connecting time, I would find one of those people, they are in uniform, show them you connecting boarding pass and they will move you to the front of the line.
I always thought the signage at FCO was good for directions. Never had any problem find our way around.
Thank you Frank. That helps to ease my mind.

Mary,
You'll go through immigration / passport control first, as that will be your first entry into the Schengen area. Once your Passport is stamped, you can proceed to your next flight, which may involve going through security again.
I would also suggest that you remove your E-mail from your original post.
Thanks again Ken. Very grateful for all the tips.
