This will be my our first trip to Italy and we will be traveling with well seasoned friends, however, my husband wants me to experience Germany. We will have only 4 days to travel from Venice to Frankfurt, Germany where we we fly out . Can it be done? Will a Europass be the best way to travel? We would love to see Strasbourg,France, Switzerland and Germany. I appreciate any help!!! Thank you!!
For Four days Venice to Frankfurt, I do not see a need for a Eurail pass; I would buy tickets piecemeal.
You could stop and squeeze in something near Interlaken (Switzerland) and possibly from there to Strasbourg.
So try looking possible train routes:
Venice to Interlaken
Interlaken to Strasbourg
Strasbourg to Frankfurt
using this train ticket site https://www.trainline.eu/search
Look at the travel time on the train for each train route and consider based on your tolerance if this is doable.
It obviously doesn't take 4 whole days to get from Venice to Frankfurt.
What does your trip looks like before you get to Venice?
You want to sleep in Frankfurt the night before departure to avoid any transportation snafus that could make you miss your flight. Counting that as night 4, you could do as Jazz suggested or something similar:
Venice to Innsbruck, sleep
Innsbruck to either Munich or Zurich, sleep 2 nights
Munich or Zurich to Frankfurt, sleep.
I'd fly straight to Frankfurt and spend the rest of the time there. Frankfurt's center is charming with lots of sights. You can day-trip to tiny, non-touristy Buedingen (village plus castle), smaller and even more charming Mainz, Weisbaden . . . If you aren't schlepping your luggage from place to place, you'll have a more relaxing, enjoyable time and you'll certainly be able to store up a whole slew of German experiences.
Thank you for the great suggestions!!! I would really like to make a stop in Strasburg ,Bern and Heidelberg am being too unrealistic for 4 days?
I checked out your proposed itinerary on rome2rio. The trip from Venice to Bern is pretty long, but I'll bet the above ground segments are gorgeous.

This is exactly what i needed!! Thank you!
If your husband feels strongly that he wants you to "experience Germany" then maybe that's what you should do, not "see the train stations of" multiple non-German cities. But since it's his idea, how about you give HIM the task of selecting locations, arranging transportation and lodging, determining what's important to see.
Last trip we had a couple of 2-night stays and determined that they were too rushed for us. But maybe you can travel like that.
