We are traveling from Naples to Sorrento via train. We bought our tickets online and received just a QR symbol and the times of our travel. Is this our ticket or do we scan it at the train station to get our tickets?

Well that is the official site to purchase tickets so I’d say what you have with QR code is your ticket
If it wasn’t you would have received further instructions

You say this is your first train experience.
Have a look at the Italian section on this site:
It is an up to date and good overview of trains, stations, tickets, etc.
Useful on how to navigate the stations and what to be looking for as far as finding the correct platform, etc.
If you are keeping your tickets on your phones, make a screen shot of all the tickets to keep in the gallery or notes section.
That way you will have access to them even without data or phone service, as long as your battery is charged!

Yes, it is your ticket. The conductor comes around with a scanner which will read your QR code
