Please help - Cinque Terre

I have done research, read Ricks books, looked online - I am searching for a place for 2 families of 4 to stay anywhere in Cinque Terre April 25-27 2010. I cannot seem to find accomodations for 4 - Doesn't anyone travel with their children! If anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated. Thanks - Chris

Chris,

You might also have a look at Mar-Mar Rooms in Riomaggiore, as they might have something that fits a group of that size.

Happy travels!

You are looking for a reservation during the week leading up to May 1. That is a very busy week in the CT. I think schools are out and lots of people want to go to the beach. I was there several years ago just before May 1 and felt lucky to get a room in the CT. Other parts of Italy may be less busy.

Chris - another one to try is Albergo Marina in Monterosso. It is a budget accomodation, but clean, friendly staff and good size rooms with bunks beds for the kids. My kids loved it and we had a great time.

In April, you can literally show up and ask for a place and be fine.

We arrived in Vernazza in October and we're met at the train by people trying to rent us a place (for 5, spouse, self and three kids 8-15). We checked one out but decided it was too small (but had a great view for a great price).

We then went to one of Rick's recommended hotels, told them what we were looking for. This touched off a conversation among three women in the street that my Italian isn't good enough to follow.

When they had made up their minds one said they had an apartment "50 meters" (it's always 50 meters in Italy, regardless of how far it really is) from there. In this case, it wasn't much more than 50 meters and we rented a very nice two bedroom apartment with a living room and kitchen area for less than 200 Euros a night. It didn't have a view but was perfectly comfortable.
