Portofino will likely cost you more and will have harder to find parking, especially on weekends. Portofino has a lot of stuck up rich V.I.P. people that I can't stand. Both are pretty towns.

why not try Rapallo? We have stayed there twice and loved it. It's a 30 minute drive to Portofino.
