Platform Changes at Bologna Centrale

I will be arriving Bologna Centrale from Rome and getting the onward train to Ravenna, can anyone please advise on the time and ease of the platform change necessary.

Bologna is a multi-level station. What type of train are you taking from Roma?

Some of the Freccia trains arrive/leave at the downstairs tracks, if the train to Ravenna is a regionale, it will probably leave from the upper level. Note that on that level there are platforms Est (east), Ovest (west), and Centrale. Est and Ovest departures will show on the boarding info screen by the track number and a letter, if not the entire word; centrale probably won't show anything but the number.

There are escalators and/or elevators.

Are you travelling with Italo or Trenitalia? Italo trains and non high speed ones by Trenitalia stop at the surface tracks.

Trenitalia's high speed trains use the new underground tracks: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/1RIvJjiYu2E/maxresdefault.jpg

Without knowing the numbers of the trains you're taking it's impossible to check the planned tracks at www.viaggiatreno.it .

Thanks to Google's Streetview, you can make a virtual tour of most Italian stations, look for the direct link at www.bolognacentrale.it
