Hi Everyone!
I'm looking for any information about Platania, just north of Lamezia Terme. This was my grandfather's village and I'm hoping to visit there just to see where he was from. We're planning a trip in Dec of this year. We're just in the planning stages now, so don't have an itinerary yet....other than, flying into either Rome or Naples, then traveling south to Sicily and back.

I'm a sucker for these types of questions and hope to make it to Calabria one day--a wannabe Italian, none in my genes--to my eternal regret, lol.
The local Commune office may be able to help you. I am particularly fascinated that there is a mycological museum in Platania (as a bit of a mushroom fan, too).
Depending on how long your trip is, you could take the train down the coast to Lamezia Terme, then rent a car and explore the area.
