My fiancé and I are running away to Italy and getting married next May. I've done extensive online research on what documents are required (both here and in Italy), and what we need to do in order to have a civil ceremony. Now, I'm looking for some help with the next steps. There are wedding planning services, however we do not need all of the extras such as venue, catering, music, etc. I am simply looking for assistance in making contact with a local authority who would agree to conduct the ceremony, and assistance in locating an interpreter (required). If you've had experience with an Italian wedding, or have any contacts that might be able to help, I'd appreciate any suggestions! Thank you.

Try asking the La Spezia tourist office for a referral. I've spoken basic English with some of the personnel at an info booth and they were quite helpful. http://www.comune.laspezia.it/Servizi_cittadino/guida_servizi/Cultura_Sport_Turismo/turismo.html

Contact italianweddingevent.com. Our neighbor used Frederica and Francesca for their daughter's wedding in Florence last year.
They raved about them !
