Plane tickets -- Sale -- Update and Thank you

HI all.

Recently I posted inquiring about reasonable price for plane tickets to Rome. I was getting quotes in the 1700-2000 range from my home city. I looked at many options including buying multi city from JFK and round trip from my home city (which I was hesitant to do). And doing that I stumbled on an international fare sale Delta was having. They had JFK multi city tickets for as low as 745 pp flying direct to Rome, then direct from Paris. I checked today and they still have similar prices on some of their flights. I purchased separately a 7:00 am flight from my home city to JFK on Delta as well. I am hoping that the six hour layover and the fact that it's the same airline, will help me in the event of any delays on the first flight. Returning I had to purchase JetBlue, but I am not so worried about that one since there are many flights out of JFK, not as expensive as going to Europe, and I am coming back home. If I have to make changes, my ticket will allow it for a fee. I ended up paying 1372 for main cabin international, with seats assigned and the ability to make changes for a fee.

Again, thank you all for your help. And for those of you looking for tickets in the summer, you may want to check now.

I bought Delta tickets that I was tracking on Google Flights today. They were $300 less than yesterday.

You paid $745 for JFK to Europe, and a separate $627 just to get to JFK from Puerto Rico ($1,372-$745)?
Not sure where the $1,372 figure came from

Agnes. I did not pay 745, but there were fares that were as low as that a when I checked. I paid 955 for my trip out of JFK and 417 out of Puerto Rico. This is because I purchased upgraded fares, that would enable us to select our seats, use the amount we paid in credit for another trip (with a fee) if something were to happen and we could not use our flights, and check bags (most important for the return trip). The flight I selected was not the lowest fare either. I could have purchased the tickets for around 1100, which considering it was for high season and only one stop in each direction, is pretty good.
