I have booked a regional carrier to JFK and need to change planes to an International carrier to get to Rome. One comes in to terminal 5 and leaves out of terminal 7. I have 3 hours scheduled between flights to get luggage and get through security again, is this enough time to get everything done?
Yes, you should be plenty of time. There is an airport train system which links all the different terminal buildings: http://tinyurl.com/2e2nljq
Usually the question is "Will I have enough time to go sight seeing during my three hour layover?". Three hours? really?
Thank you both. I was worried about delays etc getting in the way and taking that into account. It has been a long time since I have been to JFK.
We were in JFK last summer both coming and going and 3 hours will give you plenty of time. Some of the terminals are connected by a walkway, a bus, and an airline shuttle from one secure area to another. Contact the airline and ask if they have a shuttle so you will not need to go through security again. Some of the gates have multiple portals leading to different planes, so pay attention when you are boarding back on your regional flight. Buon viaggio,
