We will be in Tuscany in just over 3 weeks (WOOHOO!) and will have a car while there. We have tickets for the Uffizi on 9/29 with entrance time of 10:30 and will drive to Florence. I know not to try and drive within the city and my thought was to stop at Piazzale Michelangelo and park there. Then catch a bus into the city center. Is this a good idea/bad idea? If bad, can you recommend a place to park for the day?

Tram departures every 6 minutes daytime, every 8 minutes on Sundays and holidays. A single journey costs 1,50€. Tickets can be purchased from the automatic machine at the tram stop.
