Places to Stay in Cefalu, Italy

We will be doing the RS Sicily Tour in the fall and will arrive several days early to make the time change and to visit Cefalu. We would be interested in recommendations for places to stay in Cefalu for 4 or 5 days. We are open to hotel, B&B or VRBO recommendations. Thanks

We expect to spend time relaxing and adjusting to the time change in Cefalu. We are spending a month plus in Italy and are in no rush. We will certainly spend time in Palermo Thanks for your comments.

I agree with previous poster. Cefalu is fairy small, but very pretty. We based out of Campofelice, which a friend has a home that they rented to us which sits up on a large hill above the ocean about 20 minutes west of Cefalu and made two day visits there. We also traveled from there to the eastern end of the northern coast to Milazzo, parked the car in a garage and took the air foil to Lipari and spent the night there. By far, my favorite town and wish we had spent one more night there. Very pretty and laid back. We went into one of the tour boat stores and were able to rent a boat and captain to take us on a two hour coast tour where we got to swim at some beaches. Big old wood boat, with blue and white awning on it (no bathroom) and lovely Capitan with whom we shared some limoncello we had brought and he sang for us! I think we paid about $80US for four of us that trip and it was so memorable. After returning to our car, we travelled to Torre Faro, farthest NE corner, and spent the night there. Small, quaint little fishing town (we were the only tourists I think) and it is the closest place to mainland Italy (1 km across the straight) and stood on the point as close as we could. The town also boasts of the largest mussels (cozze's) in Italy, supposedly.

We loved Sicily! Laid back and cheap. Unfortunately, we didn't get farther then exploring the northern coast but had a great time doing that. We did not spend any time in Palmero except to fly in and out and to get our rental car as we aren't really into the large towns. I hope to get back someday to see more of Sicily!

Cefalu is very relaxing. We spent 2 nights there recently and I could have spent another. We stayed at the Hotel Tourist which is right on the beach, though about a 1/2 mile walk from downtown. Our room had a nice balcony with an great ocean view. However, the breakfast was very weak. The Hotel Artemis was our first choice, but was full.

I love Cefalu - my favorite town in Sicily.
On my RS tour we stayed in Hotel La Giara- in the center of town, great rooms and a terrace on the roof.
Cefalu is very walkable and don't forget to climb the rock - we did it a couple times - great view from up there.
Happy Travels.

In 2014 we stayed 6 nights in an apartment in Cefalu - Pallazo Villelmi - very near the Duomo which you can find on booking.com. Back then we paid 1020 euro. We met the rental agent at a gas station on the edge of Cefalu and he piloted us to the apartment. Parking was on the edge of town, about an 8 or 10 minute walk to the apartment. This was in late September and it was still warm enough to go swimming. We enjoyed 5 relaxing days based there with friends from Canada; two or three days just walking around Cefalu, getting to know some of the local vendors, one day to the Aeolian Islands, and one day aimlessly exploring by car in the rural area inland, south of Cefalu.

The apartment was clean and modern, and well outfitted. AC worked well. The rental agent was professional, and available for advice and recommendations throughout our stay.

Another vote for Lipari.

We liked Cefalu but we loved Lipari. Great little waterfront town on an island. You can tour the island by local bus. There are boats to the other islands. Everything we wanted in a Sicilian seaside setting. Train to Milazzo and a ferry to Lipari. We would return in a instant.

I highly recommend Cefalu for a 'vacation from your vacation!' I absolutely LOVED Hotel le Calette in Cefalu. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and is seriously the most beautiful view I have ever had.

Hotel le Callette -- we three women indulged ourselves in massages! The breakfasts outside by the sea are beautiful and bountiful! Sometimes they have dinner poolside, while a beautiful white grand piano on the balcony is being played by a lovely musician. We stayed three days, and had a much needed rest. Only went to town once (disappointing), but we loved this little relaxing place after a whirlwind trip through Italy, then Sicily. The dinner menu changes daily, and NONE of us had any complaints.

Sometimes it's nice just to stop and smell the roses

I was in Sicily in spring 2014 and Cefalu was the most expensive place I stayed. 2 days is plenty to see the sights. I would expect lots of tourists and a crowded beach. If you want to chill, I'd go for somewhere less popular.
