Places to stay in Agrigento

I will be going on Rick's tour in May but want to arrive a couple of days earlier to visit the town of Canicatti (where my father was born). Canicatti is 15 miles from Agrigento. Any ideas of a safe place to stay in that vicinity? I will be alone.
