Ciao, I am planning a trip to Southern Italy for a few days. I am planning to take my Girlfriend to Petrona, Calabria which is the village my family came from before immigrating to the US. In Petrona, I am planning to ask her to merry me. She better say Yes, or I am going home early!! So, we have a few days to spend in the area. I have looked at Cartone and we are taking a train to Catanzaro and most likely renting a car. Any suggestions? Places to visit, neat sights? We like wine!! Cool hotels with a beach? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Geoffrey
Yes, check out Cherrye Moore at www.mybellavita.com, or email her at [email protected]. Cherrye is an American married to a Calabrian, who moved there and started a tour agency and a B&B in Catanzaro. The website is very helpful, and we hired her to create a plan for our week in Calabria this summer. She has been very helpful in coming up with a reasonable plan, and the advice she gave us on websites saved us hundreds of dollars in airfare inside Italy. She has tours, including geneology tours, but for $150 presented us with about 30 pages of customized information and ideas for us, the advice booklet she wrote, and two long phone calls. I wish we could have stayed at her B&B, but we already had a reservation through RCI. If you contact her, thell her that Jan Brandvold recommended her! Jan
Tropea is a nice little beach town. Congratulations in advance!
