We are driving between Paris and Siena. We are looking to break up that leg of our trip. Any suggestions on place to stay, that are convenient to the route?

Wow. That's almost 800 miles. It's going to be a 12 hour drive plus pit stops. If you want to split the trip exactly half way, you should look into the Val d'Aosta. Since you'll be passing through the tunnel under the Mont Blanc, you might as well spend a night in courmayeur. If you like Alpine environments surrounded by high mountains (you probably don't see too many where you live), you might decide to stay 2 nights.
