My husband and I are driving from Siena to Orvieto in early October. We know that the journey is roughly around 2 hours, depending on the route we take. Any advice on places to visit that are within reasonable distance from our route? We want to pick up some brunello for sure. Outside of that, it's fair game.
If you're a Brunello fan, why not shoot down the SR2 to Montalcino, the home of Brunello? Alternatively, you could easily visit Assisi and/or Todi. All are great places to see.

Thanks to the both of you. Yes, we were thinking of going via Montalcino to pick up some of that great wine. It's a true shame, because I've always wanted to visit Assisi (my favorite saint, though I'm an animal lover and not Catholic). As pathetic as it sounds, wine usually wins the day under our roof! Thanks for the terrific link. It's a great place to start and should settle some marital arguments we've been having about how to drive through Tuscany! Ciao
