Hello everyone: My DH and I are travelling to Cortona next April for the first time.
What are some suggestions to see? We hope to rent a car.

Pretty much anything within an hour drive is game which is a lot of territory. Read thru guide books such as the one by Rick Steves or the Rough Guide. Watch his travel videos and others you can see on TV such as Rudy Maxa or Samantha Brown (a favorite). You'll see places you want to visit. Make a list of what sounds interesting to you, plan out days using google maps.

You are really close to Anghiari, Castiglion Del Lago, Arezzo, Assisi, Perugia, Spello, Montepulciano, Pienza, Monticchiello, and many others.

Roberto's list is great, if you go on a market day, even better but parking will be a bit harder to find.
