Traveling with 3 kids (10 to 15) in June and looking for restaurants. Mid-range (not fine dining), authentic.
Thanks!

I love this list of 10 recommendations from The Telegraph. We've been eating our way through it over the course of several visits. A few to highlight: Alla Palanca for lunch only (no hot food at night); Bottega Ai Promessi Sposi (make a reservation); Impronta Cafe.
We also enjoyed Trattoria Bar Pontini near Ponte delle Guglie and we always eat each trip at Nono Risorto. Although the latter is in the Rick Steves book, we find a pleasant mix of locals when we go there. Pizza is good for Venice. :-)
We enjoyed...
...after stumbling onto it our last night in Venice. Nice sized portions, not overpriced. It's not too far from Rialto in the San Polo area. May not be super easy to find. It's def on my return to list when we go back to Venice - and I can't say that for most of the other places we went too. They get pretty good reviews on TA as well.
Just an fyi, venice is where i made one of my dining mistakes....we all chose from the prix fix menu, i went w the "catch of the day" ...i should asked follow up questions...it was some calimari and mussels and clams...all of which might be delicacy for some, but none of those are things id choose. Bottom line, i asuumed "catch of the day" would be some sort of white fish. NOT
Pizzeria Rossopomodoro, near Piazza San Marco. Not expensive, good pizza. You can have pizza take away too ( a slice of take away pizza plus a 50 cl botte of water, 15 euro for three people).

Try a chichetti crawl by visiting different places. Each chichetti pub has their specialties, fried, sandwiches, etc. My favorite chichetti is Osteria al Portego. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187870-d1034685-Reviews-Osteria_al_Portego-Venice_Veneto.html Their Tiramisu is amazing!
They also have regular sit down restaurant service.
I recommend Al Chianti near Piazza San Marco. The food is consistently good! I just returned from Venice earlier this week and ate at Al Chianti twice while there.
I enjoyed Pizzeria - Trattoria All'Anfora (www.pizzeriaallanfora.com - in Italian only but you'll get an idea) for a casual dinner. This would be perfect for teenagers/pre-teens. This place is in San Croce but it's a little off the tourist path.
My advise, find your way over to the university district (Dorsoduro). The food gets cheaper and more casual...
I would also research Italian restaurant etiquette. There are several really good blogs to help you out...
My favorite "non-fine dining" place da Mamo.
Google it but get a reservation. Chichetti right across the way.
