Can anyone suggest a place for dinner in Varenna. My husband and I are staying at the Hotel Royal Victoria in late April.

You could start with one of the restaurants in the hotel (they have two).

Another vote for Ristorante La Vista. Stunning view of the lake. You’ll almost certainly need reservations.

Give Il Cavatappi a try. We had a great dinner there although it's been a while since we visited. Also, make sure you duck into Al Barilott for a glass of wine (or two)! Albergo del Sole Ristorante Pizzeria is worth a meal as well. BTW we also stayed at the Hotel Royal Victoria - classy place.

Last August I enjoyed a meal at Al Prato. Booking a day or so ahead was essential. Buon appetito!

I completely understand you did not ask for breakfast comments, hahaha, BUT the Royal Victoria has one of the most awesome breakfast buffets! Be sure to walk around first. They usually have bottles or prosecco open over on the side so you can make mimosas with your breakfast or just have it straight.
