places to eat in Sorrento

I am going to Sorrento next week. Any suggestions places to eat? How much should I expect to pay for a good dinner?

Dont have the names with me, but we liked the last water side place in the port. On the far left if you are facing the sea. 150Euros for family of 5 with wine and water. great pasta and sea food.
other place was a place for locals, it was out door eating and had like a little petting zoo for the kids. Very good local food, and not very $$$.
Ill look for names when I get home.

Diane, Two restaurants that we enjoyed immensely were (spelling and names not exact) DaGigino's (very good and mentioned in RS Italy guide) and Leon d'Or (or somrthing to that effect)It was above the main piazza and many locals including children were also eating there. Both restaurants had great food, service and the prices were right in line with the average in Italy. Enjoy.

Diane,

If you have a generous travel budget, I would highly recommend L'Antica Trattoria in Sorrento! It's listed in Rick's book as a "splurge" and it certainly is! Both the food and the service were impeccable! My dinner there was one of the highlights of my visit to Sorrento in May!

Have a look at the Menu on their website. I'm sure that if you decide to stop there, Aldo and the group will provide you with an excellent and memorable dining experience.

Happy travels!

Our absolute favorite is Pizzeria Aurora on Piazzo Tasso (main square) recommended by RS. We prefer sitting outside to people watch,. The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable considering the great location and the exchange rate. I think pizza's are about $12...we were just there but I can't remember exactly. Their green salad is also really good. They have lots more on the menu other than pizza's and everything we ate was very good. Also, friendly and excelent service.

GREAT pizza, hot out of the oven, in a very casual and affordable setting: DiFranco's Pizza, just across the street from the downtown lemon grove (only in Italy does a phrase like "downtown lemon grove" ever make sense!).
