Places near Matera?

We are planning to drive from the Amalfi Coast to spend two nights in Matera before returning to Salerno.

Since we are traveling to the area, we are considering adding a third night in a different town in the region. Any suggestions?

Monte Sant'Angelo on the Gargano Peninsula is fabulous. An amazing history, stunning views, picturesque town, and friendly natives. The drive to it from Matera is straightforward and the trip back to the west coast is about the same as from Matera.
