Renting a car and driving fm Sorrento to Montepulciano and looking for a fun place to stop for lunch. Will be spending some time in Orvietto later so looking for another option perhaps a couple hours or so into the trip but am flexible. 2 foodies in September

Tivoli... a little over 2 hrs, but a good spot to stop for a break. Visit Villa d'Este if you have the time.

We enjoyed our stop in Cassino. The abbey above the town (Monte Cassino) is wonderful.

You can’t drive on Italian freeways and not experience the great concessions at the freeway rest areas (Area di servizio).
Try Autogrill. Plenty of great food.
