Can anyone recommend a nice hotel or bnb in a good area in Venice? Preferably near the attractions. I’ve been looking but I’m struggling to find a place under $200 a night.
A few years ago, my family stayed at Hotel Tivoli in the Dorsoduro and San Polo area. It was a clean, basic hotel. Friendly staff. Good location - just a bit off the main tourist area which I saw as a positive. It's near Frari Church. This is a bare bones hotel. We had our own bathroom. Clean. Air-conditioning ran during the night, but not during the day. Breakfast included. No elevator. Must carry luggage up steps.
Would I stay here again - yes. I liked the location.
When are you going? Soon, or do you have time to look? Do you want a canal view?
We've been to Venice 4 times - we've spent 3 of them at this bnb in the San Polo area - http://alcampaniel.tripod.com/
We would have spent our 4th visit there, but my mom was with us and the apartment they have available was booked up. We've stayed in the standard double room. We don't need luxury or a canal view. It is just a few seconds walk from the San Toma vaporetto stop. The breakfast was simple - cereal, some cold cut meats/cheese - they may not have had the cold cut meats last time - and a variety of breads - including a yummy peach jam filled croissant; coffee, tea, juice. (This could have changed - we haven't stayed since 2012). The toilet was across the hall, but locked and private.
Hoping to hit Venice again next year and plan to book this spot again. Simple, well priced, convenient.
Hey jens
What are your dates, how many in party, mobility issues (stairs to carry luggage), breakfast, canal view? Aloha
Sorry for not adding details earlier. It’d be for one night. Don’t really care about canal view. As long as it’s clean!
Where are you looking ? I just did a quick search on booking.com, and there seem to be available rooms for under $200 for a random date in July. We have stayed near the train station twice (Hotel Florida) and Pension Guerrato once and all of those were under $200.
hey jen
you can check booking.com, put in your filters (on left of website) that you want and see what's available for you, like LauraB has mentioned.. you can also check cross-pollinate.com. since you say summer you may want air conditioning, heavy bags? do you want to stay near train station or drag bags around? i also did quick search with a july date and find a few.
We had a BNB at the San Stai stop a couple of years ago. It was very nice and was well under $200/night.
We stayed at the Boscolo Venezia Autograph and I cannot recommend them enough! The building is beautiful and all the services we had were great. Upon checking in, the staff gave us a free glass of Prosecco because it was our honeymoon.
Also, we loved this place because it was nice and quiet but still in walking distance of everything. We had a canal view from our room and it was lovely!
