I am scheduled to spend two nights in Florence at the beginning of March. I will be flying into Florence from London, and definitely want to go to the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Accademia and Mercato Centrale. I am looking for hotel recommendations, preferably on the cheaper side, but must have a private bathroom. Italian is not my first (or second, or third) language and I will be travelling alone. Any recommendations are appreciated. Grazie!
We were in Florence a month ago and really liked Hotel Il Bargellino. Its in the RS guide. It is super convenient to the train/bus station and the Mercato Centrale. We walked everywhere. It is very well priced, our room was huge and it had a private bathroom. Owner speaks English well. (Most people in Florence spoke English well). It was very clean and the Boston born host was very helpful. She reserved my times for the Uffizi and the Accademia, I felt Florence was very safe and I would have been comfortable walking around on our own.

Not sure of your definition, but in March it may work with your budget. We've stayed at Hotel California (yep, that's the name) and really liked it. Very nice and within walking distance of all the places you mentioned.
Last March I stayed at Loggiato dei Serviti and can highly recommend. Excellent location, felt very safe as a solo female traveler, and quiet at night. I paid a total of 420 euros for 5 nights in a classic double room, and that price included a very good breakfast.
My vote for Il Guelfo Bianco, at Via Cavour 29. Reasonably priced; breakfast included.
Just a couple of blocks from Duomo and Accademia, but in a fairly quiet area. We stayed there 5 nights this past August. Within walking distance of all the places you mentioned; at least, we walked to all those places.
We stayed at perseo hotel, it was lovely, good breakfast, helpful host Nd 5 mins walk from station, close to all attractions and many restaurants near by.
