We are staying in Bologna and concerned about getting to airport for a 6am international departure. Is there a convenient spot we should look at or another means of transportation
The Marconi Express tram from Centrale to airport only takes about 10 min
Not sure what time it starts running but the airport desk probably not open til maybe 4:30?
ETA
Just checked
Airport is open 24 hours but that doesn’t mean check in desk will be open 24hours
Check with your airlines
Tram starts running 5:40- so that won’t work
I’d just have hotel call a taxi and plan to arrive by 4/4:30
Your flight must be going somewhere in Europe first
I don’t believe there are any flights direct to US
6am international departure
Going where?
Going to the UK is not the same as going to Germany, or some other Schengen zone country
Thank you yes, flying into Amsterdam
Whenever I fly out of Bologna with an early morning flight, I stay at the airport hotel below. It used to be a Sheraton and it’s very posh, yet very inexpensive. They have a shuttle bus that takes you to the terminal.

If you plan to visit the city the day before you can take a taxi to town and a taxi back to the hotel in the evening. I have seen Bologna enough so I don’t really care to sightsee it the day before my flight. I just have dinner at the hotel and go to bed.
I had the same flight schedule last September and took a taxi. The night before, my hotel arranged for a taxi to pick me up at 345a. I don’t remember the fare which means it wasn’t outlandish.
Just to give you an idea of taxi costs, last month we took a taxi to the airport from a taxi stand on Via Indipendenza. Cost was €18.
We stayed in our airbnb close to Santa Maria dei Servi the night before our departure. We reserved a taxi to pick us up at 5:30. Arrived right on time and we were at the airport in plenty of time for our 7:50am flight to London. This is info for you as to how quickly we got from the city to the airport as there was virtually NO traffic and it was a weekday morning, so it is easy to do if you want to stay in the city proper. I I think we too paid between €18-20.
