After a wonderful 2-week stay in northern Italy (Aviano, Venice, Siena, Florence, CT), we'll be headed out of Italy and into Switzerland. We have a 1:15 reservation for the Last Supper in Milan on Sunday, August 2, and then I'd like to spend the afternoon sightseeing in Milan. After that we (my 10-year-old daughter and I) will begin our journey to the Berner-Oberland area.
I'd rather take the train to the Alps when we can actually see the scenery and not feel rushed to arrive at our hotel in Murren.
Can anyone suggest a good place to spend the night between Milan and Switzerland? I'd like to spend $100 or less if possible. Should we just stay in Milan? (I've heard there aren't many inexpensive choices and would rather see something different) Is there another town or village between Milan and BO that would be a great stopover?
Thanks for your suggestions!
