Pizza lessons in Rome?

Hello everyone- I will be in Rome early September with my husband and two young adult daughters. We are real foodies, especially my oldest daughter with pizza. I wanted to find out of places where we can get some classes on pizza making. This would be a great bday for her. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Maria,
I can not recommend Grano & Farina Scuola di Cucina enough! I have not taken their pizza making class, but I recently took a pasta making class and I enjoyed it so much that I'm already trying to figure out how to go back and take another class. The couple who run the cooking school are very personable and the classes are small, very informative and completely hands on from start to finish! I just looked at the information for their pizza class and it looks every bit as awesome as the pasta making class I took was! Enjoy Rome and the pizza!

Are you going to be in Naples? Naples is the home of pizza.

hey maria
you'll have a great time in italy. don't know the age of your daughters or how long you will be in rome.
ROME:
oldfrascatitour.com a village out in the countryside, about 30 minutes by train. read up "about us and blog" they do a pizza making class and wine tasting for "mom and dad". walk around the town of frascati, known for their white wines. stop into ceralli.it, a family owned bakery/pizza shop, nona is 90 years old and still baking, the "best" porchetta. bring a bag in case you buy goodies and maybe a bottle of their wine for "happy hour at your place. (we always pack a corkscrew)
eatingeurope.com has some food tours
walk thru the mercatos (near termini train station and testaccio) that has shops of anything and everything, fun place to walk with oooo's and ahhhh's. campo de fiori has "free" entertainment, avenue with lots of shops, cafes, delis, etc, marketplace. went to ristorante carlo menta in trastevere. sat outside table, had pasta pizza and tartufo and of course wine.
NAPLES
withlocals.com has food tours along with other tours that may interest you, maybe an intro to the city.
if you plan on going to sorrento, look at enogastronomictour.it tour a lemon grove, taste lemoncello, make pizza and a cheese maker.
lexaexcursions.com (eat, pray & love naples) or amalfi coast experience.
davincenzo.it is a restaurant in a cave, great food, dessert tray to "die for" recommended from a friend
years ago we took a day trip on a train to naples, we had a great time. you either love it or hate it, more "haters". it is a crowded gritty and dirty city, keep your eyes and thoughts open, walked thru some alleys, piazza down near the water, sat at a cafe with vino and pizza to people watch. took a bus ride down the coast a bit, absolutely gorgeous scenery, coming back saw police vans and tanks with guards and guns, what a sight. got back on train to rome and laughed so much with everything we saw and did that fun day. have fun and enjoy.

On our recent Rick Steve tour we had a cooking and olive oil tasting class with Local Aromas.com .
Can not say enough great things about them. Then on our own we did a private cooking class through the Eatwith.com with Sandra in her flat also great. Neither of these were pizza classes but I think they would both do them. Enjoy!

Hi Princess pupule We’ll be in Italy 9/3-9/15. My daughters are in their late 20’s. Our first stop is Rome, then we are heading to the Amalfi coast still planning that part of the trip..read so much on this forum on Ravello. I definitely want to see Positano. Any recommendations would be appreciated. We are also thinking about renewing our wedding vows 40 year! We’ll be returning to Rome to head home 9/14 so that would probably be another night in Rome. Thank you so much for you input.
